IP67 and IP68 scales: what the protection rating means and which one you need
The IP code has two digits: the first indicates protection against dust and solid objects, the second against liquids. IP67 withstands temporary immersion, IP68 prolonged immersion under the manufacturer's conditions.
The most common ratings

Which one you really need
If you clean the scale by hand, a good protection rating is enough. If you hose it down, read the instructions: the IP rating does not cover every type of cleaning, especially high-pressure jets and aggressive detergents.
Mistakes to avoid
- Confusing stainless with waterproof: steel does not guarantee the IP rating.
- Forgetting power supplies and cables, which are often less protected.
- Cleaning with jets that are not allowed.
