When you need a legal-for-trade scale

You need one when the scale sets a price or a fee, as in selling by weight, or when the result has legal value, as in third-party testing and pharmacy compounding. In these cases the instrument must carry the CE-M verification, seals and the metrological logbook. It is not required for internal use such as production checks. Read more: when it is mandatory.

After purchase

In Italy the user notifies the Chamber of Commerce when the scale goes into use and has it re-verified periodically, normally every three years. Read more: deadlines and obligations.

What is the difference between verifiable and verified?
A verifiable model can receive the CE-M verification. It becomes verified once the verification is done. This page lists the models we verify before shipping.
How much does the CE-M verification cost?
€90 + VAT, added on the product page with «Verification: Yes». Seals and metrological logbook are included.
How often must it be re-verified?
In Italy normally every three years, through periodic verification by an authorised body.
